Sustainability

At Alila Ubud, we take pride in minimizing our environmental impact, and engaging with local communities to create real and lasting economic opportunity.

Traditional Balinese Design

Inspired by traditional Balinese design, Alila Ubud’s design seamlessly weaves contemporary style with Balinese elements, creating a harmonious retreat that echoes the spirit of the island.

At Alila Ubud, every space is thoughtfully crafted from natural materials, reflecting the island’s timeless spirit. Coconut pillars frame the Plantation Restaurant, alang-alang thatched roofs shelter each room and facility, and stones from the Ayung River blend effortlessly into the landscape—a sanctuary inspired by Bali’s rich heritage.

Under the Forest Canopy

Nestled beneath the rainforest canopy, Alila Ubud is deeply committed to preserving the natural landscape, ensuring that local flora and fauna thrive undisturbed, in harmony with their surroundings.

Built with profound respect for its natural surroundings, Alila Ubud preserves native trees and habitats, creating a sanctuary where local wildlife—including monkeys, squirrels, and a rich variety of bird species—flourish freely. This thoughtful design invites guests to experience the vibrant life of Bali’s ecosystem in its purest form, untouched and thriving.

A Perfect Collaboration

Collaboration with Local Communities and Partners for Fresh, Healthy Cuisine

Through close partnerships with our local community, Alila Ubud offers guests an immersive taste of Bali’s rich culture and flavors. Local performers bring the island’s vibrant heritage to life during our dinner events. Collaborations with nearby farmers provide freshly harvested rice straight to our kitchens, while the daily bounty of Payangan Market supplies fresh ingredients, ensuring an authentic farm-to-table experience. Our organic gardens and nearby farms deliver free-range eggs and poultries, bringing the finest of Bali’s offerings to each meal and deepening our connection to the land and its people.

Zero Waste Initiatives

Alila Ubud’s Commitment to Zero Waste to Landfill

Through thoughtful partnerships and sustainable practices, Alila Ubud proudly achieves zero waste to landfill. We’ve eliminated single-use plastics from guest rooms, introduced zero-waste cocktails, and transform organic waste into compost for our gardens. Food scraps support local pig farms, while glass bottles are upcycled into drinking glasses. Candles are repurposed, paper waste is recycled by the local community, and even slippers are renewed. Each initiative reflects our deep commitment to preserving Bali’s natural beauty and fostering a sustainable future.

Giving Bag is a full service amenity used by hotels around the world. Founded in 2013, Giving Bag helps travelers and hotels create a local impact by donating unwanted items to local community organizations in need.

Simply put items or clothes you would like to donate into Giving Bag. The housekeeping team will collect the bags upon check-out and the items will be donated to a local charity partner. Kindly ensure all items are in good condition.
